Position Summary/Purpose of Position

With the Director of the Counseling Center, the Associate Director of the Counseling Center manages the day-to-day operations of the Counseling Service division of the Counseling Center. The Associate Director reports to the Counseling Center Director and works in collaboration with the Center’s Administrative Team. The Administrative Leadership Team is comprised of directors from the Learning Assistance Service, Accessibility and Disability Service, and the Research Unit. The successful candidate is a licensed psychologist who is a generalist with an extensive background in the provision of clinical/counseling services (individual/group/couples) and demonstrated leadership experience in a university counseling center. With the Center’s Director, the Associate Director oversees a racially and culturally diverse staff of 15 psychologists, seasonal contract psychologists, 1 care manager, 4 doctoral interns, externs, and a graduate assistant. Duties and Responsibilities: Provides administrative leadership to the Counseling Service’s committees; advances Counseling Service initiatives; manages staff schedules to meet service demand; conducts performance reviews, serves on Center committees and the University’s Behavior Evaluation and Threat Assessment Team. The Associate Director manages the Center with Assistant Directors during the Director’s absence, and carries out other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications

Doctoral degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology. Successful completion of an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited internship. Licensed psychologist or license-eligible in the State of Maryland. At least 5 years of experience in a college or university counseling center or university mental health setting. Demonstrated administrative experience leading major programs/functions in a counseling center/university mental health agency.
