Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience to meet managerial expectations.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Strategy and Business Development Manager. The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation’s fundamental defense services. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

Primary responsibility will be to lead the development of new business in support of the GDMS Maritime & Strategic Systems (M&SS) Line of Business (LoB) Sensors market.

Leads a cross-functional team to develop and capture new business opportunities focused on sensor technologies as well as formulate and execute the strategies and plans for capturing these new endeavors

Perform administrative, analytical and research activities, as well as engage in strategic planning, proposal development and/or marketing services.

Compile short- and long-term forecasts and develop marketing plans aimed at winning new business for GDMS.

Identify and recommend new business opportunities;

Formulate strategies and plans to capture new business and lead capture-related activities;

Work with the program office to develop short and long-range business forecasts, and drives the focus in the business needed to meet those forecasts;

Develop marketing plans and works with the business to generate investment plans that are consistent with business forecasts and are within financial constraints;

Perform administrative, analytical and research activities in support of the business development and acquisition, strategic planning, proposal development and/or marketing services functions;

Gather data on competitors and analyzes their prices, sales and methods of operation;

Analyze and research customer information, product/service preferences, market size, penetration, marketing practices and trends.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of the Navy, understand their strategic direction, capability and technology gaps, and be able to convert this knowledge into new business strategies to provide them with solutions that meet these needs.

Experience with key Navy Commands, including Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), PEO Integrated Warfare Systems (IWS), Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR), Office of Naval Research (ONR), Naval Research Laboratory (NRL), and the Naval Surface Warfare Centers (NSWC), such as Dahlgren and Crane.

Have customer contacts within the Naval Surface Warfare and S&T communities, be knowledgeable of and able to strategically position the business for new growth and have a record of successful new business development.

The market includes all Services and Agencies with similar requirements, such as the Missile Defense Agency, FAA and NOAA.

PREFERRED DEGREE TYPES AND EXPERIENCE:

Prior experience with the US Navy is required

Sophisticated research and analysis skills, as well as an ability to further evolve the GDMS business

Knowledge of the DoD and/or FAA acquisition processes with sufficient technical background to actively lead and shape our capture strategies

Related business development / capture experience and a demonstrated pattern of success as a leader of business strategy and capture efforts
