General Dynamics Information Technology Network Administrator - EIRB in Falls Church, Virginia
Support a COTS based application by monitoring server availability, performing application upgrades and migrations, monitoring and analyzing server logs, applying required security configurations, supporting end user access connection issues, troubleshooting network latency issues, coordinating and scheduling maintenance with the appropriate personnel, and creating or tuning monitoring scripts. Maintains computing environment by identifying network and application requirements; support defining how and what changes are needed to specific system workflows, installing upgrades and monitoring network and application performance.
Establishes application specifications by conferring with system users; analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements
Maintains application performance by performing application monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting network problems; escalating problems to vendor.
Secures application by developing/maintaining application availability, monitoring, control, and evaluation; support technical documentation updates.
Maximizes application performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting application problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with vendor architects on application optimization.
Secures application by establishing and enforcing policies; defining and monitoring access.
Reporting application operational status by gathering, prioritizing information; managing projects.
Install and maintain application and its supporting software.
Analyze and isolate issues.
Monitor application to ensure security and availability to users.
Evaluate and modify system's performance.
Maintain integrity of the application, application deployment, and security.
Design and deploy environments, as needed.
Assign configuration of authentication and authorization of directory services.
Support end user connectivity issues accessing the web based application across various operating systems and browsers.
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology related field of study with a network engineering focus; and/or greater than four (4) years equivalent experience.
- 2-5 years of directly related experience in network administration and support.
Must be US citizen
Must be able to get cleared for an SSBI Clearance
Working in a large-scale SOA solutions for large, complex automated information systems projects
Assisting with the DoD certification and accreditation information assurance following the DIACAP and Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes
Excellent oral and writing communication skills to assist in the creation of project-related technical documentation
Industry knowledge: Department of Defense (DoD); Defense Healthcare Agency (DHA) - desired
Must be able to obtain DoD 8570 (Security + and an Industry Certification within 6 months of start)
Ability to think through problems and visualize solutions.
Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols.
Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning application information systems.
Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection.
Ability to learn quickly new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources.
Ability to work with all levels of staff within and outside of IT and outside the organization (customer and stakeholders).
A self-starter able to work independently but comfortable working in a team environment.
Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
Dependable and flexible when necessary.
Application security experience.
Comfortable with remote CLI administration on UNIX like systems
Comfortable with creating and using SQL
Comfortable with java web containers
