Bring along your passion and do your life's best work.(sm) The RVP of Specialty Benefits and Small Business has strategic responsibility for the distribution of all specialty and small business (2-99 in New York and 2-50 in other states) products and services in the Northeast Region of UnitedHealthcare Employer and Individual. The primary responsibility is the development and execution of sales strategies that will drive profitable revenue expansion in the market. The RVP will be the strategic partner to each Health Plan CEO and Sales VP in the Northeast Region to set the specialty and small business sales strategy and maximize market opportunities. Position will report into Regional CEO and will have two employees reporting into them (Specialty Benefits Regional Director and Client Services Specialist).Specialty Benefits Responsible for providing direction, strategy, collaboration and leadership to the assigned region’s distribution organization to achieve specialty products new sales and persistency goals Actively provide oversight and strategy development of all distribution specialty product strategies within assigned market Establish field sales ancillary product objectives and develop regional competitive strategies to facilitate the execution of all ancillary products sales goals Assist in the development of annual sales plans and budgets, monitor productivity and progress toward achieving desired results Develop key internal and external relationship in assigned region to facilitate results Understand and create a strategy based on analysis and reporting of sales and market trends, including sales plan execution, competitive activity and new product requirements Establish effective partnerships within UnitedHealthcare that maximize the opportunity for the assigned region to achieve it sales and persistency goals Work with other UHG business units to facilitate joint sales opportunities Collaborate with the product organization and other functional organizations in the development and enhancement of current products, services and customer offerings Assist the region in achieving consistent activity disciplines to maximize new business development and assure perpetual pipeline growth Be the subject matter expert to ensure all Account Executives are fully competent and trained appropriately to sell specialty products Small Business (2-99 in NY; 2-50 in other states) Achieve revenue and profitability objective for the small business segment in the Northeast Region Responsible for the sales staff in the region and managing the distribution of all the company's products and services Develops annual region business plan to meet each of the small business health plan's membership, revenue and profitability objectives in the region Designs and implements sales strategies for all products for the small business market Implements the region's small business market sales process to support each health plan's business plans in the market segment and establishes management systems to monitor the sales process Develops best practices and works to implement those based on local market conditions Develops long-term strategic sales directions for the region and provides input for the small business market Determines business solutions that positively impact the organization's profitability Influences new products on the market Involved in product development initiatives Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree 10+ years of experience in full-range health care products, including but not limited to HMO, POS, PPO, Indemnity and specialty products 10+ years of work experience at an executive level with strong professional contacts and a command of healthcare issues and products Proven negotiation skills; the ability to gain acceptance from others of a plan or idea and achieve a mutually beneficial outcome Proven ability to systematically analyze problems, draw relevant conclusions and devise appropriate courses of action Demonstrates broad based knowledge of the industry, market trends and UHC Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills; ability to speak clearly and concisely, strong financial acumen with experience in measurement, data analysis and interpretation State health and life insurance licenses required within 3 months from position start date Travel Required Careers at UnitedHealthcare Employer & Individual.
