Job Description: The Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS) is central to the ability of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) National Weather Service (NWS) to predict weather, water, and climate conditions. AWIPS provides NWS with the means to integrate meteorological and hydrological data into a single computer workstation. It draws data from an array of weather sensors, satellites, and numerical forecast guidance, processes and distributes the data to the 122 Weather Forecast Offices, 13 River Forecast Centers, and more than 20 environmental centers nationwide, and dispenses rapid, highly reliable warnings and forecasts of weather events that affect the United States, its territories, or adjacent waters. As the NWS’ partner responsible for AWIPS operations, maintenance, and 24/7 technical support, the Raytheon AWIPS team supports these critical operations. The Raytheon AWIPS Program is searching for a Software Quality Engineer who will be responsible for maintaining the high level of software that Raytheon expects to provide to the NWS. Through code inspection, process refinement, improvement and implementation, you will work with all aspects of the SDLC group assisting with producing the highest quality, secure system possible. Required Skills: •Understanding of software quality development and implementation, software inspection, testing, verification and validation, and software development and maintenance processes and methods •Excellent written and oral communication skills •Ability to acquire a US Public Trust clearance. Desired Skills: •Experience with Agile Development methodologies •Understanding of systems architecture and how to implement software and maintenance process to reduce risks •Experience in a Red Had Linux environment •Experience with Redmine, GIT and Jenkins tools •Experience with SonarQube •Knowledge of configuration management best practices.
